This One's For You Baby

So the wrappings off the "Purple Reign" project, so it's safe to post my 2 new songs. Also attributed to my alter ego (that shite guy).

"Baby" features Johnny Cashpoint trading vocals with me, all music by me.

"For You" features my friends Phil and Heather doing guitar and vocals respectively, Phil Wages throwing in his unique falsetto stylings, and some excellent wah guitar from Code. Everything else is by me.

Check them out. They're for you baby.

Black Coffee

I've got a new remix. It's called "Black Coffee". Check it out.

I was intending to post this on ccmixter, as I downloaded the vocal track from there a while back, but since I downloaded it, there were some publishing issues with it and it got pulled from the site. So this particular remix may or may not include source material from hemeleen aka Helene. It does include moaning i lifted from one of Songboy's tracks on ccmixter. It was originally written in 1948.

A Flurry of Activity

It's funny how inspired one becomes after having their ability to create music compromised by a broken pair of headphones. My old pair literally spent thousands of hours on top of my head, and they are by far the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned. So I bought another pair and went straight to work.

I've got another Jay-Z remix wrapped up for my zzmixter project. This one features 4nsic trading flow with Jay, backing mix by me. A public service announcement about what is hip hop.

I've also got a remix by Calendar Girl, whose stuff I'm just discovering to be very good. I'm a bit late on July, but I intend to try to work a couple more months in there at some point.

I also threw together a little mix called Taking My Place, which features vocals by Etherdust, beats by Pat Chilla, and cello and synth by rjmarshall, all featured artists from ccmixter.

Finally, I did a couple of mixes which feature Frank H. Carter III, a very talented vocalist from ccmixter. Check out both Magic and Crazy Love, with vocals by FHCIII and backing music by me.

What More Can I Say?

New Jay-Z remix. My backing mix under his acappella vocal track for "What More Can I Say". I sliced his vocals up slightly to try to better fit the beat. This one was kind of challenging because the chorus vocals were part of the vocal track so I couldn't separate them out from Jay's vocals. Oh well, you work with what you got.

Off break. Sort of.

I created a new tune/mix for the upcoming Songfight. Challenged to do something with a "strong, dancable rhythm", my MC Jack persona took over on this one. Sugar Shaker features a short clip from KCentric, from the ccmixter community. The rest of the backing mix and vocals are a combination of loops and live tracks by me.

I've also got another new mix over on Remixfight. Kind of a last minute thing I wanted to do as my buddy Ken is the drummer. You can hear it here.

Finally, I just want to mention that next up on Remixfight will be one of the new Nine Inch Nails songs, "Me I'm Not", which they've just released the source tracks for with no licensing restrictions. Since this is Nine Inch Nails, I'm sure the source for this will be outstanding so go download the source for this here and submit a remix.

On Break

I've been on kind of an extended hiatus from remixing lately, partly from a lack of inspiration, partly because i've just been pretty busy with life in general, and partly because i've been trying to concentrate a little more on songwriting and live recording. I haven't abandoned it, just taking a well earned rest in the hopes that i can come back juiced with some new ideas about stuff.

I did manage to squeeze in a remix on the current Remixfight though. "Music Ruined Video Games" is a remix of an original song by Shael Riley.

Happy New Year

Here's a few new remixes to start the new year off right.

First up, A Long Way From Home (Ran's Mix) features a combination of acappella tracks by ran dumb dots and innabar doing the same piece, the classic "motherless child". all backing music by me.

I also took parts of Ms. Vybe's "Insecurities" and threw it together with the amazing guitar work of Tapsa and put together "What's Your Insecurity"

finally, over on the latest Remixfight!, you can find my remix by Boogat. go check them all out and vote for your favorite.
