"The Past Didn't Go Anywhere" was a collaborative project put out a few years ago by Ani Difranco and Utah Phillips, and once I heard the CD, I was hooked. It really opened my eyes to the artist that is Utah Philips, a storyteller, folksinger, and man of the people. It inspired me to try something like what Ani Difranco did, so I searched around and found a short monologue/intro that he did somewhere years ago. Then i tried to create a mix that blended elements of hip hop, funk, and country. All elements I sort of associate with Utah Phillips.
